Story Synopsis for The Witness: “A group of
irresponsible college boys set out to haze one of their
classmates who is universally looked upon as a 'goody-good' and a
'mamma's boy.' As a climax they take him by force to a theatre
and make him witness a cheap vulgar performance. When fire breaks
out, he saves the lives of his fellows, and it is his example as
witnessed by Paul Courtland which changes the latter young man's
life as though he had seen a vision. He turned aside from a
promising worldly career and began a life of personal service to
his fellows. The story of his aspirations is in itself a fine and
sincere thing.”
